Prayer
Oil on
canvas
Statement: Whether we like
it or not, we are vulnerable to God in prayer. In my church we
begin our Sunday morning Eucharist service with the ancient
prayer to God, to whom "all hearts are open, all desires
known,
and from [you] no secrets are hid." This prayer has informed
my spirituality since I was a child, and in this painting, I
hope to depict that vulnerability, that openness and closeness
to God, which is how I think
of my best self in prayer.
