Artist Statement: My favorite times of the day have always been sunrise and sunset. In my youth I spared myself from the mornings and evenings that covered the light of the sun with clouds, fog, rain, etc. As I added many years, I find my greatest joy and sadness in that shrouded light. I know the light is still there; I have to search deeper to find it - the search brings its own laughter and tears. There are 365 sunrises and sunsets in a year, only one set of sunrises and sunsets in 68 years and for the 9 victims of the Charleston Church Massacre, 0 sunrises and sunsets after June 17, 2015. Bio: I am a retired college theatre director, took my first visual arts class in 2001... the week after retirement, and was hooked. My art is very much like playing different characters - each medium becomes my favorite... watercolor, acrylic, alcohol ink, etc. I am on to the next part/medium. I am an active member of the Methodist Church local arts organization, a practicing arts integration teaching specialist and enjoy taking classes and workshops. |
