Among the many pearls in this artist’s book one stands out
as larger and of more cost, reminding us of Jesus’ parable
of the "Pearl of Great Price." Pearls at the time of Jesus had more
value than they do today; thus, Jesus compared the pearl to
the value of the Kingdom of Heaven. The parable also has a
similar theme to the Parable of the Hidden Treasure which
adds the notion of a ‘diligent seeking.’
Advent is a time of seeking and searching for those pearls,
those insights and longings that only are fulfilled by our
search for knowing God.
