From inward to outward, from problem to solution, from sin to grace, and from darkness to light. All of life is a journey, with valleys to peaks (and sometimes back again). This image of a sunlit altar, with half the candles bathed in the sunlight and half still in darkness, with half the crucifix in golden light and half in darkness symbolized to me the movement from dark to light in our journey of faith.

The journey is not always straight (for evening comes yet again), but the day also comes again and, faithfully, all of the candles and the entire crucifix will be lit and glowing at the same time. Amen.
