The
Mother of All Living
Collage and Oil
24 by 36 inches
The
theme of this painting is The
Mother of All Living, or as
translated into modern-day English: “Eve,””Chavah,” or “Living.” This is
the name Adam called his wife in Genesis 3:20. This name sets the
precedent for the woman Mary, who was called The Mother of the Living God.
In both Eve and Mary the world experienced a new beginning – the beginning
of the human race and the beginning of the Kingdom of God on earth through
Jesus. The Mother of all Living also represents the birth of everything in
the world, which brings to mind springtime and the birth of new baby
animals, the appearance of plants, flowers and insects, a world emerging
from darkness, chaos and cold. She stands surrounded by symbols of
motherhood: the Garden of Eden on the right, old Jerusalem on the left and
symbols of ancient religions through which she walks as a new choice. |
