Created in the aftermath of my most recent relocation, my “Resident Alien” series employs objective imagery to explore the subjective impact of high geographic mobility on the formation of my person, my faith, and my art. The imagery of Resident Alien 1, which features maps of the more than 30 places I have lived, captures some sense of the myriad physical and interpersonal intersections that have shaped my life.
This work was created by painting and screen-printing imagery onto repurposed packing paper from my most recent relocation. It was then backed in eco-felt, bound in cotton fabric, and embellished with button ties.
