Jesus Dies
18 by 24 inches
Acrylic on canvas

This painting was created during Lent this year.  It has been a challenging year for me personally and I entered the creation of this painting with a great deal of raw emotion.  This image of Jesus on the cross represents an intersection—not only for me, but for humankind.  We must not forget that at the center of this intersection— this cross—is the heart of Christ.

The altar is stripped of earthly adornment. The lights go dark. The voices of the choir once open-winged and soaring fall silent and perch in the outstretched branches of a holy night. The garden is quiet now. O beautiful one—we are here with you. You are not alone.
