The Monk's Promenade
St. Michel, France
Printmaking (Etching: Intaglio, Aquatint, Drypoint & Chine Collé)
Oil-based Etching Ink on Rives BFK Cream paper
with mulberry-bark paper overlay

This etching is from a series entitled "MYSTERIOUS PLACES/SACRED SPACES." The actual visual is taken from a photograph in The Library of Congress (Washington, DC - Photochrom Prints, Prints and Photographs Collection) that was executed in 1890 and published in 1900.This work (executed on two zinc plates printed on one piece of paper) demonstrates my work in geometric form, color, photographic detail, line-tension, and intersection. The framed size is 20 inches high by 26 inches wide. The Chine collé technique uses a sienna-dyed, mulberry-bark paper (from Thailand) as an overlay in the print process; this paper is pre-treated with methyl-cellulose.
