WINDOWS ON THE WORLD: View Two
Digital painting

Perspective Two: Can you find?

•   The Crescent Moon, the symbol of Islam
•   Women in burkas
•   Islamic prayers of love and devotion
•   The two darkened towers crumbling from the top down in smoke and fire
•   The words “Muhammad Spoke”
•   Icons and symbols of Middle-Eastern culture and much more...

The work, a response to 9/11 from an artist who worked within the World Trade Center Complex for over ten years, invites us to examine religious and cultural icons in image and word from two perspectives, Christian and Islamic—in an attempt to find commonality at that juncture where lightness and darkness meet; an attempt to make beauty out of pain . . . a longing for understanding, a starting point for questions.
