Hope
Oil on canvas

Statement: The image of the bird on the limb protecting her nest. The storm is over, the nest is safe, all survived, and light is shining through the clouds. My prayer: "In spite of the darkness and sometimes turbulence, God is with me, and I know that somehow all will be well. “The light shineth in the darkness and the darkness shall not overcome it.’”

Bio: I was born in 1929 in Charlotte, NC. My church-going parents showed their belief through caring. We knew that God was with us. My husband Buck decided to be confirmed in the Episcopal Church, which, as a cradle Episcopalian, was precious to me. Starting a church bookstore gave me an opportunity to read and relish every word of religious literature available. I would
draw pictures of what the words said to me.
