When we speak of seeking and serving Christ in all persons and loving our neighbor as ourselves, this can sound like a safe ideal. But to really live into this is revolutionary. The status quo runs counter to seeking and serving all, no matter who they are. This piece clearly owes a debt to the iconic image of Che Guevera and a Church of England ad which created a version of that image with Jesus as the subject. I cut my own stencil to create a graffiti to paint over layers of scripture, liturgy and words about Jesus. We do not want to get so lost in words about Jesus that we no longer follow Jesus, but talk about him. To truly follow Jesus means seeking and serving him in all persons.
