The Gift

Text: Luke 7: 36-50
A woman who has led a sinful life enters the home where Jesus is a guest
at dinner. She begins to weep. Her tears wet his feet. She wipes them with
her hair. She pours costly perfume on them. So deep is her sorrow, so
tender her touch, so great her faith. And deep also is the well of Jesus'
compassion and forgiveness.
The gift of the woman is her broken heart, her tears, her faith. But what
she receives in return is the greatest gift of all, forgiveness and the
freedom to live life anew.
