Stations of the Cross IV: Jesus Meets Mary
Stained Glass

In a short amount of time, Jesus evolves from a hero entering Jerusalem to a man condemned to die by crucifixion. He is beaten, his clothes torn, given a large heavy cross, and exhausted from carrying the cross; he falls for the first time. In a scene filled with taunting, Jesus is met by his Mother, Mary.  Mary is full of anguish and sorrow: she knows she can't save him, she can't protect him, neither can she remove the pain and heartache she knows her son is suffering. What she can do is give him compassion and one last moment of tenderness as he continues on his journey to death.
