Mary the Universal Mother
Egg tempera, gold leaf, repousse
17 x 24 inches

The line is blurred between the high admiration for God’s active Grace in Mary and God's active Grace in the rest of us. Some teachings seem to say that God only chose two people as the ultimate recipients of complete Grace in Mary and Christ. What kind of God keeps a hierarchy where His own greatness is preserved for only two human examples? Mystically these two are Holy and Supernatural but where does that leave the rest of us?

We are all potentially Saint Mary, birthing God’s presence into the World, through every word, every action and every desire. Perhaps it is heresy that I am saying such things but it is not without love for a better world , envisioning everyone as extensions of Saint Mary, the Universal Mother.
