Spring Meditation
Gouache and Embroidery Thread on Paper

From a series I call Meditative Journeys where my insights on women, spirituality, and art come together. For me, art is a meditative, intuitive experience wherein time and space become irrelevant. Art is healing, a catalyst for change, a way to gain focus and self-awareness.

I was inspired to create art that came from my spirit to hopefully provide a path to peace, a means to step out of the chaos of the moment to a place of stillness and calm. Each piece was created while listening to CDs performed by Michael Hoppe. One in particular, Invisible Journeys. contains several pieces of music comprised of various chants.

The act of making repetitive lines as well as sewing on paper with embroidery thread becomes my mantra.
