From THE GREAT O ANTIPHONS
(176" wide by 41"high, installed)

Rejoice!  Rejoice!
Emmanuel shall come to you, O Israel.

This work was inspired by "The Great O Antiphons," a collection of prayers (dating back to the fourth or fifth century) that are intended for use on the final seven days before Christmas.  Most familiar to us as the chant, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” the prayers address God using several First Testament titles, express a growing sense of urgency for Messiah’s coming, and give voice to human longings that are as relevant today as they were in centuries past.

The works in this collection were created with cotton fabric, cotton batting, and synthetic felt that was dyed, painted, screen-printed, stenciled, and stamped, then embellished with appliqué, improvisational stitching, hand embroidery, and found objects (metal hardware and plastic stars).
