This session focuses on the form of church music that most people know best – hymns. It will explore their origins, theology and variety, from medieval Gregorian chant to modern worship songs. Visual art will be the subject of this session. We will compare and contrast the icons characteristic of the Eastern Orthodox Church with the religious paintings characteristic of the Latin West.
